Persona: 50 Years of Photography at QCA
Griffith University - Queensland College of Arts (QCA)
Featuring over twenty-five QCA alumni and students, Man&Wah was invited to be a part of Persona: 50 Years of Photography at QCA. Curated by Henri van Noordenburg, the exhibition spanned over four QCA Galleries spaces - explores half a century of photographic teaching and learning at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Focusing on works that have a strong personal or autobiographical element, the exhibition serves as a salutation to the past fifty years of Photography at the QCA, and a wondering of what’s to come after the Photography course was largely discontinued during the same year.
For the show Man&Wah contributed a collection of large format cosmic botanical portraits and video works from their 1Shanthiroad artist residency in Bengeluru, India funded by Asialink, and also created a series of new sandscape installations.
(Below images) Various details of the nature inspired sandscape installations representing the elements of earth, fire, water and the ether. Materials for the sandscapes were natural objects collected along the east coast of Australia.
